For as long as I can remember, art and music have been mountain cairns, gifts along to way to help me navigate being, life and death. Visual art and poetry were early ways of speaking when traditional structures of communication were either not serving or innaccessible. Art gives voice to the unspeakable, and music is a mode of transportation, excavation and transmutation. Songwriting is a compass; rhythm and harmony are night stars for the wayward sailor finding his way home.
Creativity is a labor and a gift. It is medicine, food and extravagence; my chosen burden. Space, sounds, color and shape have all been dear companions; knots I am ever tying and untying. Getting lost has turned out to be a fertile agony; as crucial as the still spine basking in the gleam of centerless clarity. Maybe these are all just big ideas… too big for crafts I will ever be a student of, ideals I rise to meet and have fallen short of so often that failure became friend.
I am glad you’re here. It is my hope that you find something which alights the ineffable; an inner wisdom, a learning, and perhaps most potently, an unknowing. I bow deeply to the weaving and unweaving.
